Chapter 1: An Early Morning

We are so glad you’re joining us for the Growly Reading Adventure! Today we’re starting Begin with the Prologue and Chapter One: An Early Morning. In this chapter Growly and his parents set out early for their cottage in the Lower Lands.

We have created a reading checklist printable for you. You can print it off, stick it on the fridge or wherever you’d like, and track your progress as we read through Begin.

Thanks so much for watching!

We also have a special gift for you.

I love this series! The characters and world are so rich! When did you first get the idea for this series, and what did that little seed of an idea look like? (You don’t need to answer the last part if it would be a spoiler. )

Thank you Christina. The idea for the series started with the scene in Chapter 30. (I won’t say what happens to avoid spoilers) I (Phil) imagined it kind of like a music video with a song “We Love You”. The rest of the story started growing out of that seed.

This is just perfect! We have three children, my oldest being 6 and they LOVE listening to stories to go to bed after I read three books! 🙂 I am looking forward to them getting to hear these stories and truly appreciate the activity pages! How fun and what a blessing to be providing! Thank you.

Thank you Rebecca. We’re so glad that this can be a fun bed time story for them. We hope they have a great time with the activity pages, and would love to hear what they think about the story as they listen along.

This was great! My special needs daughter and I have already heard the entire book TWICE via our Audible copy — but she listened much more attentively this evening as she watched you reading! Perhaps it was seeing the face that goes with the voice she had already become so familiar with? Perhaps it was the familiarity of the text? We are eagerly awaiting availability of WIDEWATER on Audible … PLEASE?

This is so wonderful! We really hoped this could be a fun, new way to dive into Growly’s story. We have wondered about the differences for children listening to an audiobook vs watching a read-aloud. Would love to hear more of your thoughts.
